What We Want

WE WANT TO KEEP the job growth momentum going and ask government to do everything it can to make Oregon a competitive place to start, grow and maintain a business.

WE BELIEVE THAT Oregon business is the solution—not the problem. We want people to know that.

WE WANT EVERY DOLLAR that we send to state government to be spent wisely—especially in our schools. Educated Oregonians, whether they excel in math or shop class, are key to keeping and growing job opportunities here.

Oregon Leaders Hosting Budget Town Halls

This week the Oregon legislators working on the state’s next 2 year budget will begin a series of Town Halls across the state. Crafting the state budget is no easy feat and requires difficult trade-offs between competing programs and services.  Here’s where we need your voice to tell the Legislature what really matters to you.

Tell Legislators: Before making cuts to education, healthcare and other essential services for Oregonians, they must curb Oregon’s rapidly rising Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) costs and high government employee healthcare costs.

To find more information on our priorities and where a town hall near you is taking place, click here.

Alex FavelukeI really think they need to look at ways to break the old PERS deal. its not fair to screw up young families because future retirees seemed to be working both sides of the pension negociation.

Ron StrubelWhen it says tax just say no,just vote no, no matter how much they have its never enough! Its their system if they have a surplus. Their money gets cut! As stupid as it sounds there is no incentives to save!

Lesllie AndersonThey keep trying to sneak in the sales tax on us every chance they get. They need to budget what they are getting and promote more business instead of trying to shut it all down.

Jan Louise Lingle MastonIt costs more money to run your state When you are a Sanctuary State! Are we paying for healthcare for illegal aliens, that can cost a bundle?

5 days ago   ·  14

Eileen Matos MorganVote no on this one. There are no set provisions for the money the state will collect, and they will do with it as they please, which as you know, will mean wasted money on special interest projects!

5 days ago   ·  7

Cheryl RayA big NO. This session excluded any Republican input. Most was done by Dems behind closed doors and was all about raising $$$ in a multitude of ways, however, no worries about cutting spending. Sick of them!!

5 days ago   ·  4

Bill PeckhamLegislation in OR is mentally ill, stupidity abounds, and it is rampant throughout NO on Gross Receipts Tax... NO on 97 NO on M97 What part of NO..do you moronic fools not understand. The N, or the O?

5 days ago   ·  4

Gerry HullJust think what they could do with all that extra money. Gives themselves PERS raises, build a bridge to nowhere or give less to VETS and give it all to illegal aliens

5 days ago   ·  5

Michael EngermanNo sales tax means just that. Dems just think everyone is stupid. We need to replace the idiots with fresh faces that care about individual freedom. Smart people that can actually do the job and are not on the take making sure they have the money to be reelected to stay on the take.

5 days ago   ·  3

Karen Alley NealThey haven't used the casino and pot monies as they were supposed to. What makes people think they would use sales tax as they should. Somebody is lining their pockets! We need some actual honest people running our state.

5 days ago   ·  3

Stan HunterWell I haven't read though this new measure to see what it says but I voted for the last " gross Sales Tax " bill as it was directed at " C Corporations " LLCs WEREN'T affected and the Sales amount was 10 million / 20 million ? don't remember off hand . I was having trouble with people who argued that this " gross sales tax" bill would hurt small business while the opposite was true. Again like I said I haven't read this Bill so I need to see what it says . And before you get all upset and start bashing me - YES the State needs to curb their spending ALSO. Last I read they had a 7% growth model like private business and don't seem to realize they aren't a private business .

Mark ReisingerThe head Salemite has just ruined my Facebook reading today with more posts than I can count. Once again, she has learned the power of deception from BO and uses it well. Overwhelm everyone with crap to divert attention from the only issue we care about. Bitch has to go. No new taxes! None.

Steve EubanksOregon has such corruption in their officials just look at Eugene the people and businesses said no to EMX yet the morons running Eugene put it in anyway costing the tax payers millions and used contractors that are milking the job as much as possible so it's time to vote out or impeach those in control!!

Steven PrinceWe are already considering ways to counteract the minimum wage increases and this would crush us as well as other businesses.

5 days ago   ·  5

Chris FletcherThe Oregon government doesnt know how to budget, spend responsibly or listen to the people. Its been this way for years. More taxes and regulations are not going to bail us out. Time to grow the hell up.

5 days ago   ·  1

Ron MapesReal Oregonians have rejected all sales tax measures for years. It is a mark of distinction that we are proud of! I can remember when Washington State's "Camel Nose" Sales Tax got started, touting it as such a small amount to pay by selling green plastic tax-tokens for fractions of a penny for convenience of paying tax on your purchases. Then later, they sold aluminum tokens with a hole in the center so that you could string them on a key chain, but they cost more. Next, the pretense of "it's only a small amount" was becoming apparent and pennies could pay the tax. Finally, every city, county and state taxing agency added their own " it's only a small amount" whenever they wanted to cover their increasing spending budgets. It is not just a small amount; it is a taxing trap! As we are advised about dangerous drugs, "Just say No to Sales taxes".

Mary BettsVote this in and see how many MORE businesses we can lose! This would hurt all business because it's based on Gross which doesn't consider costs, taxes etc.that the businesses have. Vote NO!!!

5 days ago   ·  1

Elaine YervesOur legislators don't like the word no. If we the people say no to anything they want passed they just keep giving it back to us. Now how smart does that make them? Just keep saying no people. Maybe one day they'll wake up.

Tammy FromanDid you all see they've decided Kitzhaber and his girlfriend are walking away from their shady dealings when he was in office and he turned it over to Brown. My guess is there was never any plan to prosecute him or her. Probably a deal was made for Brown to take office.

Harold WorkmanGlad you asked, but embarrassed for you. Financial responsibility and understanding are practices that should be a requirements for those holding offices! If you are unfamiliar with debits and credits you are in the wrong position. Do not spend and then try to finance. The public will fund worthwhile and responsibly managed projects. They are not willing to spend for reckless and corrupt projects. If you do not understand that you are in the wrong position! NO MORE TAXES... MUST FUNCTION EFFECTIVELY and RESPONSIBLY! Honest intelligent leadership is required to manage the public's needs! If this is not you, you are in the wrong position!
